Antonio’s Coffee Journey
A personal journey through espresso, slow brewing, coffee gear, and daily rituals.
Hi, I’m Antonio. This blog is my personal space to document a journey through coffee: from the moka pot I grew up with, to espresso, slow brewing, coffee gear, recipes, mistakes, discoveries, and everyday rituals.
Why coffee matters to me
My passion for coffee started when I was still a child. I used to watch my grandfather prepare moka coffee every day for the whole family. It was a simple domestic ritual, but to me it felt special: slow movements, precise gestures, familiar sounds, and the smell of coffee filling the room.
After my grandfather passed away, I started making coffee for my family. In a way, it felt like I had taken his place in that small daily ritual. At first, I was simply preparing moka coffee. Then, little by little, I started trying to improve the process, paying more attention to details, taste, timing, and technique.
That is probably where this journey truly began: not from the idea of becoming an expert, but from the desire to understand something that had always been part of my life.
Coffee is not only a drink for me. It is memory, technique, taste, curiosity, and ritual — all in the same cup.

From moka to espresso
I actually started with moka, not espresso. But espresso has always fascinated me. Coming from Naples, seeing a barista work with those beautiful lever machines has always been something emotional for me.
Espresso had a taste, an intensity, and a texture that I could not find in moka. It felt like another world: more concentrated, more demanding, and full of variables to understand.
And beyond espresso
Over time, my love for coffee pushed me to explore other ways of brewing. Moka, espresso, V60, AeroPress, Pulsar, and other methods all offer different ways to express a coffee.
I like the idea that the same coffee can change completely depending on the method, the water, the grind size, the temperature, the recipe, and the intention behind the cup.

How I approach coffee
I do not see myself as a coffee expert. I am simply someone who has been on this journey for a while and wants to share it honestly.
For me, making coffee is a mix of sensory pleasure, daily ritual, curiosity, and technique. I believe you cannot make a truly good cup without paying attention to taste, but also without respecting the preparation and understanding the variables that influence the result.
Some articles will be very accessible and personal. Others may become more technical when the subject requires it. When I share personal impressions, they should be read as subjective experiences. When I mention objective or scientifically supported information, I will try to make that clear.
